About Val
Val Lloyd (Labour - Swansea East)
Previously a Councillor in the City, Val was elected as the Labour AM for Swansea East in the Assembly's first By-Election in 2001.
Born in Swansea Val was educated at the Swansea High School for Girls and the University of Wales Swansea.
She enjoyed a distinguished career first as a nurse working in both primary and secondary health care sectors in Swansea, London and Zambia, and later as a teacher, which took her across the world to places such as Bahrain.
In the National Assembly for Wales, Val chairs the Petitions Committee and the Legislation Two Committee. She is also a member of the Health, Wellbeing and Local Government Committee.
Val chairs the All Party Group on Waterways as well as the All Party Group on Nursing.
Her special interests are Health, Community Regeneration and the Environment.
