Swansea East

The constituency of Swansea East comprises the eight wards of Bonymaen, Cwmbwrla, Landore, Llansamlet, Morriston, Mynyddbach, Penderry and St Thomas. It has a population of around 75,500 people.

The constituency has a rich industrial past, with thriving docks and copper works.

The area has seen considerable economic regeneration over the last thirty years. This includes the creation of one of the first industrial enterprise zones, and the transformation of the docks area into a marina and the prestigious SA1 development. Unemployment has fallen by 44% since 1997.

Swansea East is also home to the new 20,000 seat Liberty Stadium, which hosts many popular sporting events, as well as conferences.

Val has been actively involved in community issues in the constituency for a long time, as she has lived in Morriston for over 40 years. She also holds regular advice surgeries all over Swansea East.
